About

Anna Observes is where I put things I've noticed before I lose them.

Some become stories. Some are memories. Some are investigations into things that probably didn't require investigating. Others are simply people behaving strangely in public.

I write about family, memory, adoption, houses, ageing, objects, people, and the considerable distance between how life is supposed to work and how it actually does.

Sometimes I go looking for the truth.

Sometimes I get distracted.

I'm Anna.

I write things down.

I don’t actively engage in debate here. I write, you read, and we are both free to get on with our day. If you’re looking for an argument, the internet remains extremely well supplied.

My Writing Manifesto

"I write the way I write. Because AI detectors frequently flag clean, structured human prose as machine-generated, please note that all content on this site is entirely original. I do not engage with false positive metrics from automated scanning tools."
